It happens about twice a year. You are at a bar chatting with friends and enjoying some drink and suddenly you find yourself screaming to be heard and straining your ears to hear. You realized to your chagrin that they had turned up the music. Turned up the music of an entire bar full of people talking (now screaming).
People inevitably start dancing, afterall they are sauced up and cant talk anymore. Eventually someone asks you why you are not dancing. As the booze flows and the night goes on the pestering gets step up. Always from friends, never from someone that you might actually want to hit on.
I hate dancing. I have tried for years and every time the result is embarrassment and me wondering why the hell I keep getting talked into it. I keep hoping each year that I am old enough not to find myself in such situations. I would hope that the grace of getting older means you don't have to put up with such akwardness.
Something occurred to me last night. The people that try to pressure you into dancing are always attractive people. Unattractive people don't care about dancing, or at least who is dancing at the party and who is not.
