Memeing the Important Stuff

Sorry the posts have been so lame, but I have gone right back to working my tail off at work. I have begun my first multi class period project. Its all about superheroes and thier powers. Students already know about Ironman, The Incredible Hulk, X-men (although they can name a single one), Superman, Batman, and Wonderowoman. So far showing them the pictures from the internet that I gather of various Comic book heroes really has thier atttention. I was reminded of what I saw in superheroes comics when I was there age that made me a committed fan for years.

These days I prefer titles that are a step away from the superhero genre. I still love The Watchmen despite
whatever the up coming movie brings. DMZ has also kicked off an intense obession with Brian Wood and his love for making use of the urban space, its people and its landscape. This comic is so strikingly similar to vajrabot's well research and raw cyberpunk inspired RPG Fates Worst That Death.

I am also still infatuated with Atomika, aka the Soviet version of Superman. There was a mini series that I came across years ago and I have been yearning for something more to come out. Not only do I like it for the same reasons that I liked Red Star (despite its inane dialouge and character developement that I could really care less about). First it gives me a reason to touch base on the handful of Russian history classes that I took. Secondly the art in Atomika is out of this world. God is Red.

I came across this Autum playlist on NPR. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have the music really fits my recent mood. I really like the song Heaven for the Weather beacause of the line:

quot;I want to go to heaven for the weather, Hell for the company.
I want to go to heaven for the weather, but hell seems for fun for me!"
