Ugh, everytime I sit down to write one of these things I am so tired that I forget half of what I want to say.

I am running out of cold hard cash, but thank god I can be reasourceful...so far. Nothing takes cards out here and the very few things that do try and pressure you to pay with cash instead... that gets on my nerves.

Last week was Corpus Cristi, I suppose some alternate version of Zombie Jesus Day. From what I could tell all religion has been muscled out of the week long festival and replaced with days off from school and work for rampant drinking and canival rides.

We went to the fair last thursday, which to our suprise was very fun. We were expecting something like an over glorified county fair. Instead there were rides and dance clubs housed in tents. It probably was an over glorified county fair that went till 6am in the morning, but the true of the matter was lost on us. Since we showed up after drinking since noon and downing some small boxes of rancid wine. And by Rancid I mean gutt wrenchingly rancid...but it gets you drunk... In addition to being only 40 cents some young kids told us (after the fact) that it was in facyt cooking wine... but it gets you drunk.

I got taken at the fair for 12 euros for some small fried octopus (last time I dont ask how much something is first!!!!). Went on some rides, drunk...bad idea. next day hung with Will and he was nice enough to loan me his his hiking backpack for last weekend.

On friday morning Steve and I boarded an early morning bus for Almeria with the hopes of reaching the tiny coastal town of San Jose (hey! I´ve been there before). The trip was kind of a pilot program for the expidition that we will take after the program is finished. Our planned route will take us from the beaches of southern Portugal to the coastal town of Cadiz, to the surfing mecca known as Tarifa. It is possible that there may be some time for Narjah again, but let not get ahead of ourselves.

I have been watching the news here and I am surprized by the fact that when they cover either the war in Iraq or Isreal they show not only bloodied corpuses of men women and childern but also blood and body parts.

One of the ways I like to pass the time here is to watch the news with my host family. It helps my Spanish and I am finding they are similar values to me. They seem to be shocked and apalled at the same things I am about America and there seems to be more informed coverages of politics here then US.

I have been spending much of my time watching the world cup. The Spain/Ukraine game was out of control as drunken Spanish Soccer Fan seem to enliven any occasion. My personal favorite, Brazil, is still in the running and preformed beautifully against Australia last night.

At this point I had better explain my theory that if Brazil wins three world cups in a row then the world pretty much has to give them a permanent seat on the security councel.

As much fun as I am having here, I can help but look forward to my time coming up in Hawaii with Beth. Of all the things in America I miss here the most and what better way to see your beloved again than on the sandy beaches of Hawaii with the sky blue waters to witness our reunion.

Next weekend is a trip to Seville and Cordoba. I am excited to see the former capital of Arabe Spain. I here it isn´t as grand as the Alhambra but then again the Alhambra is a lot to live up to.

I saw an old old movie last night on TV. It was Spainish but it must have been the 50´s. The plot was frivolus, basically some newly wed couples crazy honeymoon. I couldnt help but watch it and compare and contrast to other movies from around that time in America. While watching it it dawned on me that it must have been made under Franco, that gave it an entire other demension for me.

ok I think I am typed out and its time to watch a movie in the library for shits and giggles.

spain, cordoba, san jose, granada, seville
