Screen 3

Those of you that live in Stafford might have heard the old Ghost rumours about the Apollo Cinema. Screen 3 apparently is the home to a dark, ghostly figure who is often seen standing by the toilets during films and has apparently been spotted by hundreds of customers at various times aswell as other staff members there. Jack tells me that it's probably because the basement of the Cinema, during World War 1, was used as an Abortion clinic with a few adult deaths to boot, which seems to have become the most commonly accepted answer. However people seem to forget that Jack is, infact, an exaggerating git when he wants to be.

There is something about Screen 3 that sends the spooks up me though. It's my job to unlock all the fire exits in the morning which involves a trip down the stone steps in there, and that room always gives me the creeps. I don't know if it's because the lights from the inactive movie screen only illuminate half of it leaving lines of chairs at the back disappearing into a mass of darkness, or that there always seems to be a strange, deep humming noise that I never notice in the other two Screens, but there's something about it that's creepy none the less. And the fire escape is not much nicer - first of all you have to make sure you've jammed the first set of doors open properly to prevent yourself from getting locked in, and then you have to descend down two flights of manky, stone steps lit by dim bulbs to unlock the second set of doors at the bottom, with the stench of stale urine fresh in the air. Today, however, came with a special twist - we were having some kind of electrical work done and so all of the emergency lights had been switched off, meaning I had to descend into said danky, creepy exit in complete darkness with just an ancient Torch to light the way.

I felt like the dumb guy in horror movies who goes down the haunted staircase in the pitch black with just a tiny torch even though you know he's gonna get his guts pulled out of his anus.
