I am still me, just with two fewer inches of my digestive tract in place. The doc said the part they took out looked really, really bad, so I'm glad it's gone and am hoping to have an easier time with digestion in the future. Sadly, they sent the section they removed to be biopsied, so I can't get it back and place it in my refrigerator to offer to omnivores as a "foreign delicacy." hehehe. >:)

Anyhow, I'm feeling a bit better now. I have a private room with a very nice view and have gotten some time to finally catch up on sleep. I still have a fever of 101.7 degrees, but at least it's down from 101.9 degrees. I've walked around the floor a few times today and have gotten to start trying some of the foods on the "full liquid" diet (i.e., oatmeal, cream of wheat, and soy milk). It's nice to not be limited to broth and popsicles. My abdomen feels very bloated and sore, but that's to be expected. :p

I've had several calls and visitors. It's been really nice to have a chance to talk and visit with my family at length, as it's something that rarely happens anymore. Also, Ben came by to visit today. He brought me "Preludes and Nocturnes," the beginning of the Sandman series, as he knows I like me some comics. :)

Last piece of good news for today: it's been 59 hours since I've had a cigarette. I asked the nurse if she would include an order for nicotine patches on my discharge sheet with my other prescriptions and she said she would. Honestly, I'm really excited at the prospect of becoming a non-smoker! Wish me luck. ;)
