Blip.tv, which I've been using to stream vids for several years now -- since imeem went down, basically -- has
enabled pre-roll advertising on all videos, meaning that any time anyone streams one of my vids they get ads first. It's possible to disable the ads... on 5 videos per account.
I'm annoyed. I'm actually so annoyed that I am contemplating pulling everything from Blip and uploading somewhere else. Maybe I'll finally make the jump to YouTube? But YouTube is more likely to be a problem in terms of takedowns -- plus they're also monetizing some remix videos, so I'm not sure that's really the solution I want. I'm perfectly willing to contest a takedown, if it comes to that; I just don't want the hassle.
I've put a few things up on Vimeo already, so maybe I'll just keep going with that. Or, you know, maybe I won't bother to do anything, because while I am not the most prolific of vidders I have made enough that the thought of re-uploading everything somewhere else gives me a headache.
Suggestions and input welcome.
