This afternoon,
truepenny and I finished kluging together an academic abstract for an upcoming con at which we're co-presenting on Firefly (because we're geeks like that). We still don't have a title, although Truepenny is pitching for starting off with "Jayne, you'll scare the women," followed by the obligatory academic colon and explanatory bits. [ETA: I can't believe I originally typed "semicolon." Bad geek! No biscuit! ...I fixed it, of course.]
Excerpt from the conversation:
t: "Precarious"? "Tenuous"?
h.l: Not unlike our grip on the English language.
t: And now we're back to the meta.
h.l: Oh, like we ever left.
and the academic abstract checklist:
show? check.
gender? check.
adverbs? check.
Also, Truepenny ate pastries. But not all of them, as they weren't apricot.
