we have the technology!

I have an iPod Touch! I like it. It is officially my new PDA, but it is turning out to be, at least in theory, even better than my old PDA in a whole host of ways, not the least of which is that it is a much better .mp3 player, although the fact that it doesn't seem to do playlist folders is annoying me.

(Sekrit note to jackiekjono: You were right! I was wrong! It is a wonderful toy! I will never doubt you again!)

I've got the basics of the PDA functionality set up; what I really want now is a way to store and search my book and music lists -- both my lists of what I already have and my lists of what I want to get. (To-get lists are currently on the computer as Word docs, and the lists of what I have are in Access databases.)

So, since DW/LJ knows all, I thought I'd ask: anybody have advice about this? In some ways my ideal would be an app that syncs to an online service like LibraryThing or GoodReads, where I could import my existing lists into my LibraryThing (or whatever) account and sync them with the iPod. But I need to be able to access the data even when the iPod's not connected to a WiFi network, since I won't in fact have WiFi access in most of the stores in which I'd want to use the app. I know GoodReads has an app, but I can't tell whether the data's accessible when the device is offline. (GoodReads is also a little more bells-and-whistles than I'd like, but I'll put up with that if it lets me do the key things I want to do.)

Thoughts? Suggestions? Recommendations?
