1) I am really excited about the
vidding roadmap that the
OTW has just announced. Some of what they're working on won't affect me personally - I'm lucky enough to be able to afford hosting for my vids - but I love the idea of having a collective redundancy backup system and the prospect of exploring new technology to facilitate streaming (especially given the hits that the community has taken from the closing of imeem and now ning). I am so going to force
renenet to volunteer for anything involving metadata.
2) I have so much grading to do in the next 24 hours that I literally don't know how I'm going to get it all done; I'm just putting my head down and hoping for the best. It's a lot like the end of the semester always was when I was a college student, except that back then if I screwed up it was only my own grade on the line; if I mess up now, it affects dozens of students who have problems of their own. Sometimes I hate playing the role of responsible adult.
3) Right now, I'm taking a brief break while the Latin-style chicken & rice I'm making for lunch (and leftovers) comes to a simmer so I can stick it in the oven and get back to work. (The house smells damn good.) Because grading or no, I still have to eat, and if I don't cook today I'll be dealing with the consequences for the rest of the week.
4) At some point after my grading's done, I want to a) catch up on my TV, and b) post about what I've been watching (Fringe, Castle, Doctor Who, Treme), because wow, there has been some fun stuff going on.
kass and I had a great conversation about Fringe the other night, and there's so much more I want to say!
5) I have no memory of planting yellow tulips next to my front door, and yet there they are, five of them, grouped around the Veronica 'sunny border blue' that's putting up its own elegant little ruffle of leaves.
