no, really, why IS vidding so hard?
sdwolfpup and I were working on vid-related stuff last night. What follows are excerpts from the conversation that, perhaps inevitably, resulted.
We agreed afterwards that we can locate this conversation firmly in stage 14 of the Life Cycle of Vid and Vidder.
sdwolfpup: Why is vidding so hard? *whines*
here's luck: because it SUCKS
here's luck: it is a TERRIBLE HOBBY
sdwolfpup: IT IS
here's luck: why do we do this to ourselves?
sdwolfpup: We choose to do it!
here's luck: clearly we are NOT VERY BRIGHT
sdwolfpup: CLEARLY
here's luck: but every now and then people give us positive reinforcement

sdwolfpup: Why do I always take the most difficult route to get an effect?

sdwolfpup: Because it's damn annoying.

here's luck: I might be willing to give up some of this appreciation for a little less FUCKING TRAUMA.

sdwolfpup: I miss those halcyon days when I had a vid idea and no vid
here's luck: ah yes -- those days when it's all possibility and no actual work.
here's luck: the vid idea often has better clips than the actual vid, I find, what with the being entirely imaginary.

And then, moving on to stage 15:
sdwolfpup: Woo! I just made a change for the better. Yay vidding!
here's luck: oh, how quickly we forget.
here's luck: one good moment and the bitterness just drains away.
here's luck: temporarily.

sdwolfpup: It's like childbirth. If we didn't forget, we'd all be one and done

here's luck: or not even that much, because the people who'd already done it would be all "NO! STOP! BACK AWAY!"
