vidding! whee!

Feb 04, 2007 22:50

I have three (THREE) vids in progress these days, and this weekend I finally had several hours of uninterrupted time (for two days running!) to sit down and work on them, and I made progress! My original intention was to work on the Firefly vid, but I ended up accidentally opening the RayK vid file yesterday afternoon, and then I said "what the ( Read more... )

Ah, DVD-ripping. So boring, yet so necessary.

I think I got as far as "I have three (THREE) vids in progress these days" and my went blank. I know that I read the rest of your post, but I'm not sure that any of it sunk in...

It is nice to see that you are really enjoying yourself! And that you are not concerned about your "Serious Vidder cred", which I think will forever be safe!

Three vids! Three! I haven't done this since my earliest days of vidding, and I'd forgotten how great it feels. I LOVE having enough hard drive space to do this! (Of course, I need to get another hard drive just for Buffy and Farscape, but I'll cross that bridge when I get there...)

Hard drive space is like time, you can never have too much of it!

And my mind went so blank at the thought of you making 3 vids at once, that I actually forgot to use the word "mind" in that sentence. See, blank!

You are SO SILLY! And so right about the hard drive space. Getting a dedicated vidding drive is one of the smartest things I ever did. So smart that I need to do it AGAIN.

and Cat-Scan, which is the least-downloaded of all my vids, is, though not the most universally accessible to other people, possibly the most important to my own history and process.

I *so* get this. The vids that I'm most proud of, the ones that taught me the most, are not downloaded like the ones that I just threw out there. Also, the ones I screwed up the most are the same ones that taught me the lessons that *stay*.

I wish I were vidding. I mean, really vidding. Not doing all of this sous chef stuff. heh

Yeah. So much of the toughest work I've done in vidding is invisible to other people, and I'm really proud of that, that I have sometimes managed to make something look easy or obvious when getting there had me on the verge of tearing out my hair.

And you are so right about the screwing up. The vids where I got the motion wrong, or the pacing wrong, or the build-up wrong... I learned SO MUCH from having to FIX that stuff, from having a beta call me on it or just from looking at it myself and saying "I have GOT to make that better because it is going to bug me FOREVER."

I so hear you about the sous chef stuff. I've spent all of January going prep stuff, and finally starting to VID felt like flying.

I threw you on El Flist yesterday when I realized you were (without a doubt) my favorite vidder and probably very much worth reading, and a happy and inspiring post like this just reinforces both those things. So glad to hear you're vidding again!

Cat Scan and Window are my two favorite vids of yours (followed closely by New Frontier), so if there's more like them on the way, I say bring it :-)

Aw, thank you! It's good to *be* vidding again.

Also, THANK YOU for your enthusiasm; I really do appreciate it. The vids in progress are... well, in *my* mind they're pretty different from anything else I've done, but they're definitely more like Window than like Cat Scan. *g*

No problem! In my limited vidding experience, I've found that having my friends cheer me on and share my enthusiasm for a project really boosts me up, so I do my best to pay that forward for the vidders that I'm really excited to see more from. I'll even wear a cheerleading outfit if I have to. Go team go!

YAY RAYK VID!!!!

Not that I'm not "YAY!"ing for *all* your vids, of course. As long as you're vidding, and are happy, that's all that really matters, certainly.

Hi. I love you and your private RAYK VID dance. *g*

You would be amused by this project file, I think. I have sorted the virtual clips into bins that have labels like "RayK dorky" and "RayK distressed" and "RayK in motion" and "RayK OMG HOT." Except sometimes I don't know whether to put a given clip in "dorky" or "hot." How is that even possible?

Your icon reminds me that I originally had some RayK Badass clips pulled, but then I realized that this vid is really more about showcasing the dorkiness and the sweetness... because my heart is MADE OF PUDDING.

He makes the dorkiness hot! It is his Special Gift!! (Or, well, one of them.)

And I love your big pudding heart (*g*), especially in combination with your big titanium brain, and cannot wait to see what they will produce.

OH MY GOD. I am laughing so hard I can barely type. I need an icon that says "Brain of titanium. Heart of pudding." I neeeeeeeeeeed it.

And WORD on RayK's special gift. Oh, the prickly vulnerability and the dorky hotness.

I am still figuring out the role of Fraser in this vid and may blither to you about it later. The role of RayK in Out Here was actually really easy -- Ray is Fraser's ONLY LIGHT! He will tell Fraser's heart which way to go! -- but Fraser's role in this one... I mean, I have the metaphor, it's right there in the title of the song, but I don't know what to DO with it yet. Gah. Why, why do I have to go to work today? Why can't I stay home and VID RAYK? The world is so unfair!
