This weekend, tzikeh asked me if I'd ever heard of a band called Mission of Burma. I said yes, of course, because as a matter of fact I spent a good deal of my first year of college mainlining Mission of Burma.

Just now, while looking up links for the previous post, I discovered that I once namechecked them in a fit of pique.

It's good to be self-

yaoobruni and I saw them live this past July. They were fantastic, and OnOFFOn is every bit as good as Vs., incidentally, so if you don't have it, I recommend it highly. :-)

You luckies! I would LOVE to see MoB live. OnOFFOn is on my list but not yet on my shelves, sadly. I may have to fix that sooner rather than later, based on your rec. Vs. is just such an amazing album, and "Dead Pool" is one of my favorite songs ever (admittedly I have about 400 favorite songs ever, but still).

If I hadn't known that the band broke up for twenty years between the making of the one album and the making of the other, I never would have guessed it. It's really tight, musically.

Did you read Roger Miller's Slate diaries?
