A very happy birthday to renenet: dear friend, badass librarian, SVCD crack dealer, stellar vid beta, diagramming-party enabler, and my own personal favorite.
It's kind of amazing, or maybe not the slightest bit surprising, how many of the good things in my life right now can be traced back to her. She turned me on to BtVS, which was literally a life-changing experience *and* turned out to be a gateway drug for further wacky fun. My vids would never have been posted online without her moral support, and they would certainly not have improved as much as they have over the last two and a half years.
Going further back, she's the one who taught me by example that Erasure's greatest hits CD (and anything resembling it) is perfect housecleaning music, who demonstrated that wrestling turkeys into bathtubs can be a worthwhile endeavor, who saved me from doing violence to my mother during a post-surgery visit, and who provided the necessary sound file for "please leave your message at the sound of the elk."
It's been a good ten years. Here's to as many more as we can get our grubby little fingers on.
