There's a story about Simon in it. It hurts. And yeah -- that's never going on the cull list. I wasn't quite so stunned as you, since I take it as an article of faith that eventually every book in the world passes through the Strand, and the only problem is making sure that you're there when the books you want pass through. And anyone who says I made a little squeaking sound and grabbed the book off the shelf faster than I could blink is lying, because I was shopping alone and there were no witnesses.

I'll be very curious about what you think about Love Medicine and The Death of the Heart, because I love them (I don't know why Elizabeth Bowen is so unknown), and about Eva Moves the Furniture, because I've been hovering around buying it since I first read a review.

Congrats on finding the Hulme. I just love when something you've been searching for like that finally does show up in your life, preferably someplace unexpected--not to mention inexpensive. (i.e. it's not the same if you ordered it online at some hyper-marked-up price)

Yeah, exactly. I've had finds a bit like this a few times before, but never something I'd been looking for for so long, and never at 50% off. I'm still kind of giddy about it. Somehow I'm not surprised that you recognize this brand of elation. *g*
