tonight was the felix culpa show that i threw together. from the headline and the response both played really solid sets. i know it totally diminishes my 'cred', but i have SUCH a huge soft spot for the response it's not even funny. i've been watching them play shows since i was like 15 years old.
i got really depressed and down on the whole booking thing when this one band up here dropped off the march 2nd bill because i wouldn't pay them some ridiculous amount of money for a show they already agreed to do for a more reasonable amount. i'm not a fucking businessman, and i'm not gonna haggle with their pseudo-rockstar egos.
but as long as nights like this keep on happening, i'ma keep on doing it. there weren't any local bands on this bill, so i was concerned it'd flop, but i tried my hardest to promote this online and in the area, and i'd say over 100 kids showed up, which is awesome for the fox valley.
i think that just goes to show that there is definitely an audience for DIY shows up here, but.. no one's putting them together and there are just far too few good bands to choose from here.
so. milwaukee. i do hope you'll come and visit me.
