Daria called me daddy! ...I mean SHE didn't call me daddy. She called me...I was Cassandra and Phoebe's- Anyway, she called me their daddy. I really liked it.

I do. I don't think she intended to say it. I think it slipped out but then she smiled and said that's what I was and I do feel that way. I love them so much, Dad.

So how do you feel about being Grandpa?

...Mum is going to freak out, isn't she?

I feel rather good about that actually. I won't start calling Daria in the middle of the night to check on them, I promise.

I honestly have no idea. You know Emily far better than I do these days.

The fact that you feel good about it makes me so happy, Dad. And if you call her in the middle of the night, you know it's me who will have to deal with sleepy!Daria. You know she's likely to raise the old ones just to spite you!

I know this probably isn't how you expected to become a grandpa, but it's okay, right? It isn't exactly how I expected to become a dad either, but I really love it. I love my little family. It feels so right when we're together and when I'm away from them I miss them.

I don't know how she'll react either though. I'm terrified she'll panic and lock me in a basement somewhere. Dad, if I disappear, will you look in her basement?

If Daria has learned the incantations to raise the old ones then you have my blessing on this partnership even more. May you be eaten first, my boy.

The 'how' and 'why' don't really become important when it comes to things like family. It's all just 'is'. Emily and I took Serenity for our own long ago after all. We've never been ones to shun that which is outside the nuclear.

I highly doubt Emily will lock you in a basement. But I'll make sure to check.
