Your disdain for the domestic and the "grown-up" amuses me :) lol. First of all, we live in Ohio, which severely limits the options of the spontanious person in the first place. Secondly, the choice of the "non-conventional" lifestyle in the Bible Belt has it's drawbacks, as does the "conventional" route.

No, we with children and retirement plans, can't just go jumping up and going any where we please on a whim or do overly stupid things for shits and giggles, but that's mostly because we no longer have the luxury of thinking only of ourselves, we're basically forced to examine how our actions impact our family, finances, or percieved judgement.

Of course, you'd probably be able to name way more drawbacks to family life than I can, but that's because we have different opinions about the issue.

On the other hand, drawbacks for the childless and impulsive in Ohio, is that you may only be able to find 1 out of maybe 50 people, ever, who you can do those fun, crazy things with that doesn't have children or has the desire to match your need for randomness at our age :P

Oh, and btw, not all hobbies are yuppie, pocket-protector or breathe right nose strips related :P I think -- judging by your family-- that hobbies have earned a dorky stigma with you, and you maybe should look into a hobby. Idle hands and whatnot- but you kind of need one if you plan to stay sane in Ohio.

Anyways, I always thought you were nerdy. Book nerds are still nerds, I mean, who would sit around and read fairy tales as opposed to --well-- anything else :) LOL

Not knocking it, just don't wanna be part of that scene quite yet hereonawhim April 6 2009, 05:14:19 UTC
When someone tells me to go find a hobby, I take it as hey go find something to do to fill your time because you don't have anything better to do. Now I "get" hobbies that are interest in something such as baking or crocheting and you do it for fun, ere go a hobby. But my attention span tends to resemble a butterfly. It flits around a lot. So even when I do become interested in something it usually doesn't stick with me long enough to be able to proclaim it a hobby. Le sigh.
