Not-Vegas: day 2-3

Jul 15, 2013 14:35

So when we left our not so intrepid not so adventurer in the wilds of Indiana he had successfully not set fire to himself or anyone else while playing with molten glass. I expect this should come with glowing neon letters that appear above my head that say "Achievement unlocked" but I might be biased. Also I did not burn myself by flinching when on occasion the glass I was using EXPLODED while I was sitting in front of a six foot flame so go me!

The next day was pretty mellow, lots of chatting and hanging around until it was dinner time. Where upon we got our fondue on at the local melting pot. Yummy food and I even got to have a bit of dessert since we had enough people that it wouldn't go to waste. Then talking to all hours of night yet where we spoke of many things like reading Laurell K. Hamilton's books being like being in an abusive relationship. Not so much the shoes and ships and ceiling wax though.

Sunday there was sausages and gravy for breakfast and then we went off to wolf park I've known about wolf park for ages but didn't actually ever expect to end up there. It was, unfortunately, bloody hot and humid so it was a bit wilt making and the sun was so bright I couldn't actually see the screen on my phone to see if I was getting good pictures a lot of the time but I did my best. Pictures to come later once I've finished dumping them onto a computer to go through them. It was very cool and I'd like to go back sometime when it wasn't quite so hot. Also, with shorter days the foxes might do something other than open an eye to look at us and go, screw you, it's hot and I'm staying right here. *grin* Dinner afterwards where debmats fish was so overwhelming that my burger vaguely tasted like fish the whole time. There was, however, an awesome blueberry lemon drop made with hanger one vodka to make up for this. Afterwards, more talking...this time Laurie and I talked pretty much till about 5 am or so I think. We went to bed and then proceeded to talk in the dark for another hour I think :-)

Monday: People started leaving after breakfast which was sad making. Around the time that Kev and Christopher were leaving we received a call that our flight was going to be delayed enough to make us miss our connecting flight in Denver. Given our connecting flight was at 10:15 we would have had to spend the night in the Denver airport so we elected to stay an additional night and fly out the next morning. This was a bit sad making as, although Tammy and her husband Dan were awesome hosts they had to work the next day and everyone else would have been gone.

Still we made the best of it and I let work know I'd be out an additional day. Talking until Laurie left and then we did dinner where I got to board game geek a bit with Dan. Then reading till lights out as we had to be up at approx 3 am CA time :-)

First flight was good, even got in early. Which worked against us as our flight in Phoenix ended up delayed for almost three hours. Airport food makes for sad foxes. Got home around 7:30 in time, very tired, ordered pizza and almost immediately fell asleep.

Thank you to debmats for the trip and undinesprite pezazul tammy_g and clsinstl for planning a fun trip and not smacking me the first day when I was all, "But....Vegas!" I did have an exceptional fun time even if I'm tweaking them a bit for how they handled the change in plans, as it were *grin*
