Exploring the kingdom.

It's picture post time! I spent the weekend exploring the kingdom of glenatron with him and his warhound. Well. Pip belongs to his parents, who I met for the first time and they were very very lovely and I needn't have been nervous, and I'm not entirely sure that a true warhound would really ask for their bellies to be tickled as often as she does ... but shh.

This is the place where mead comes from. We stopped by so that I could get some bottles of the finest mead for rainechan and Thad when I visit them in just over a week's time. :) Also, Ben and I got a bottle of beer each - his had coffee in it. It was grim.

glenatron playing with the dog training the warhound in his parents' beautiful garden.

We escaped into the woods!

A cool swampy bit. I like cool swampy bits.

Pip likes cool swampy bits too. Fortunately, she did not go in.

Sunlight filtering through the trees over an enormous badger sett. Ben showed me what signs to look out for to know if badgers are about. Ben is an actual ranger.

We went along the boardwalk over the marshy areas of Thursley common, where we found actual dragons.

I stole Ben's camera because I only had my camera phone with me, and it fails at daylight photos.

Pip found a stream and decided to have a lie down in it, just because she could.

Shadows on the sand and the heather.

Apart from the obvious reasons of why I love trundling around hills and heath with glenatron, I also enjoy it because it sets my muse free. A hundred different plots, scenes and character interactions bounce around my skull every time I walk there. I mean, just look at the photos from this post alone! Don't you just want to stick your characters in one of them and see watch them explore? My characters have travelled those pathways more often than I have...
