I have returned from Wales! I will catch up on everyone's news soon. I have lots to update about, and pictures to share - the Halloween ride, The Patient Wild's gig in Reading, and of course holiday photos; but I'll just leave you with the most important occurrence of the past few days.
Here is a photo of my boyfriend.
And here is a photo of my fiance. :)
He's actually writing his proposal in that first photo; I had no idea when I took the picture. Not the slightest inkling. Ben had brought his watercolours with him on holiday, but as he didn't think he'd actually have time to sit and paint the view, he said he was going to take photographs and write short snatches of poetry to capture the feel of the place. He showed me them as he wrote them. The one he wrote while sitting on that rock was particularly sweet, and I told him so as I handed it back to him.
"It's an acrostic," he said.
So I read the words down the side of the poem and it spelled out 'marry me'. I can't remember exactly what I said, but it was something along the lines of "Aw!", or some other isn't-my-man-clever-and-sweet sort of noise. Yes, I really am that oblivious.
"I mean it," he said, when he realised that, as usual, I was operating on slower parameters than the rest of creation.
This resulted in a lot of "What?", "Really?" and "Are you joking?"'s from me until I finally realised that this was an actual proposal and I, of course, said yes. :P
As I can't wear rings (I have circulatory issues that means my fingers swell up if I'm cold, stressed, or if they have any kind of restriction applied to them), so Ben had designed a custom made piece of body jewelry to go on a belly bar. It's a moon-gazing hare, my spirit animal, with a diamond eye and a ruby hanging below. Everything else is gold.
My hare. <3
I apologise for the uncut photo post, but I don't do it normally and I thought this deserved to be a special occasion. Here is the first photo of us post-engagement (I'm 5'3 and Ben is 6'2, I think I must have been standing in a hole!). :)
