It is annoying! And they only sell the announcements in packs of 25, 50 and 100. I had 29 people I wanted to send them to - so the people I was closest too, my siblings, I told them the situation and they didn't care. The formal announcements are like $2 EACH! My Mom paid for everything though because I was going to forgo the formal things and just send out my letter of fun. Does the government pay for your education in Norway? I know here people graduate with YEARS AND YEARS of debt. I think $20,000 is the latest average. I know people who owe over $100,000!! It is ridiculous. So anyway, the money people send you is supposed to help. I've had jobs throughout college and the Bonner scholarship so I don't owe much at all. I think I'll be debt free within 7 months... I could pay it off, but I'd rather go to Europe and celebrate. In theory, the interest rates are supposed to be extremely low, like 1%, but Bush has been raising them and now mine are at 7.9%!

Are you interested in becoming a translator? Only like 15% of people use their majors, so I guess it doesn't really matter...

D: Kind of sounds like having to send out formal "Thank you~~~" letters after confirmation. Though those letters went out to people who gave gifts, but yeeees. Annoying stuff D:

Err, education is free here, more or less anyway. I pay a yearly fee for university (it's around $136), but most of that money goes to various charities that the university supports. Despite this, most students have to take up student loans. Student apartments (and, real apartments) are ridiculously expensive, and most people can't afford to live there with only part time jobs to rely on. Also, most students at UiO are full time students, meaning they don't have any time left over to have a job on the side, so yeah.. loans are required. I get student loans as well, wouldn't survive without them. About 50% of the loan is converted to scholarship money as long as you pass a minimum of 30 study points each semester (3 regular classes). Which is quite lovely.

I am, actually. Not sure how good I'd be at it, though @_@; I'm starting to suck in all my languages due to using them all at the same time D: Also have no idea where to go to sign up for any translator positions XD Subtitling tv shows or movies would be awesome, I think :o

Ugh...I have thank you cards I have to send out too -- those are going to be way easier after this.

Barack Obama (one of the presidential candidates) wants to institute a program where if a student does a lot of volunteer work, it'll count as scholarship and they will get money for it, like a national Bonner program. It makes me hopeful. Norway's system sounds way better though...*jealous*

You speak three right? English, Norwegian and some Japanese? I speak English and then a tiny bit of Spanish, which I'm loosing more and more since I'm no longer taking classes... :(. Foreign languages has always been my worst subject. It would be so cool to translate...it sounds like a relaxing job too. :D. I've never heard of a translator agency or anything though...and I really have no idea how you would enter that field.

Haha xD; Ugh, formalities.

Ooh, that sounds like a really good program :O Our system is pretty good, although most students get a lot of debt to pay off once they're done. I'm dreading leaving university because of this D: Barack Obama is getting a lot of attention over here, I'm rooting for him to win it all~

Yeah, I speak Norwegian, English and basic conversational Japanese (I'm better at writing/reading than speaking). I also understand Swedish and Danish perfectly because it's so similar to Norwegian, an added bonus of being Scandinavian, I guess XD;;; I also know some German because I had to study it during secondary school (I can read simple stuff, pick up more complicated stuff and sort of understand topics if German people speak in movies, on the news etc.). Same with Dutch, it's similar to German and I've been hearing/seeing it a lot lately due to all my Amsterdam trips. ... err yes, I love languages XD

I've been thinking of searching around and learning more about different job possibilities as a translator this summer, and then I'll try to sign up for subjects related to that next semester :)

When do you graduate? You have no idea how happy it makes me to hear about Obama being popular overseas. I helped with voter registration, I would be more active, except I have finals and am fairly innudated. North Carolina votes May 6th!!!

Good Lord. I would easily pay you $5000USD for those skills. GLADLY. I cannot even imagine what that would be like... what language do you think in and dream in most often?

Good luck!!

Errr, if all goes according to plan I'll finally be graduated autumn 2009. @_@;

Aahaaha. Because I use English all the time, I usually think in English. Which is probably a bit strange, seeing as it's not my mother tongue and all, but yes @_@; When I'm in Denmark for more than a day or two, I start thinking in Danish (though I'm rubbish at Danish pronunciations and never speak it). My dreams are usually in Norwegian. I think. People rarely talk in my dreams XD

Thanks! 8D
