I want to post something in honor of the
Transgender Day of Remembrance, but it's hard to know what to say. The fact that these people were killed because of anti-transgender hatred is something that is difficult for me to grasp - I honestly cannot understand why people feel this need to attack others, just for being different. Unfounded fear, I guess, and small-mindedness. It's so utterly, utterly wrong, but, as the list of names shows, this hatred is all-too common in our society. This is my way of stopping for a moment to say a prayer for those who were killed by hatred, and also that this hatred will end. I look forward to the year when there are no new names on this list.
Melissa at Shakesville has an excellent
post about it here.
