Blogging for LGBT Families!

Today is the Third Annual Blogging for LGBT* Families day, so I thought I would show my support for all families by posting a few relevant quotes about love and family. Family is a combination of people who are related to us by birth *and* people with whom we've chosen to share our lives. There is no single "standard" to which all families must conform; people who love one another, and want to share their lives together - in any arrangement - deserve to be called a "family," and have the acceptance and support of those around them.

The happiest moments of my life have been the few which I have passed at home in the bosom of my family.
~ Thomas Jefferson

I have learned not to worry about love;
But to honor its coming with all my heart.
~ Alice Walker

It's not only children who grow. Parents do too. As much as we watch to see what our children do with their lives, they are watching us to see what we do with ours. I can't tell my children to reach for the sun. All I can do is reach for it, myself.
~ Joyce Maynard

The minute I heard my first love story,
I started looking for you, not knowing how blind that was.
Lovers don't finally meet somewhere.
They're in each other all along.
~ Rumi

The family. We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another's desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together.
~ Erma Bombeck

A baby will make love stronger, days shorter, nights longer, bankroll smaller, home happier, clothes shabbier, the past forgotten, and the future worth living for.
~ Anonymous

And finally:

Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

~ Dr. Seuss (Theodore Geisel)
