The Raven

Recently, my son’s been on an Edgar Allen Poe kick, and he’s dragged me along with him (willingly! willingly). I’ve decided that now, my favorite poem in the whole world is no longer “The Road Not Taken” (which is still a fab poem, even though it’s been displaced). Nope, my favorite poem is “The Raven.” It’s just so much fun to read out loud! And it’s spooky. What more could you want?

Well, my son has learned about half of it now, and I’ve decided that we’re both going to just forge ahead and learn the whole thing together. He’s got a big head start; I’ve only memorized four stanzas (the first two, and the final two). I might not end up learning the entire thing (it’s really long! Why didn’t I stick with Frost?), but I’m going to give it a try. How cool will it be to be able to recite parts of “the Raven” at parties and stuff, right? Well, until all my friends get tired of it. (Solution - get new friends)! Bwah! J/K. ;)
