Fimo Gallery!

Jan 09, 2006 10:16

Here's something I KNOW you've all been waiting for (especially those of you who voted "for" fimo in my recent poll. You know who you are :D). I've put up an online gallery of some of the work that I've done in polymer clay! I plan to update it even so often (yeah, kinda like my birding site. *snerk* That IS going to get updated . . . erm . . . ( Read more... )

ARGH! I thought I did! I thought these were the photos on my iDisk (my .Mac webspace). And, when I went to the website to get image addresses, they were all screwy. Hmnh. Obviously, I need to sort this out, don't I? Thanks for the heads-up - it all looks fine on my end, I didn't know there was any problem.

Hee - don't be jealous! Just come to visit, so I can enslave you teach you how to do stuff like this, too! Bwahahahaha! ;) It's really a lot easier than it looks. Seriously. When I first saw stuff done in fimo, I thought I could NEVER do stuff that complex . . . but once you learn the basic technique for making canes, it's really pretty simple.

I use a toaster oven I bought at Target, so I can bake stuff whenever I want without having to clean out the big oven afterwards.

Not that I'm trying to be an enabler, or anything. ;)

I picked up a nice, big convection over for about $50. It's perfect for the fimo - and would be a good choice for regular cooking, too, since I got the one with the biggest internal space I could find (at a low price, anyway - there might have been bigger ones that cost three or four times as much). I'm sure you could roast a chicken inside, for example. It's made by EuroPro, and I'll look up the model number if you like, but probably if you just go to a local Target store (or equivalent), they should have a decent selection.

Oh, I need some fimo help in a big way! You wouldn't happen to know how to make fowers would you? I'm supposed to be decorating some picture frames but me and the fimo gods are not getting along.

What kind of flowers? Three-dimensional, or flat ones, in a cane? I haven't really done any three-d flowers yet, but I know there are cutters you can buy to make them - so, I think you'd roll out the cane into a sheet, then use the cutters to cut out leaves and petals, and then assemble them like that. It shouldn't be TOO tricky that way. If that sounds like what you want, you should be able to get the cutters at Michael's or maybe even JoAnn Fabrics. If it's cane you want (for covering the frame with a flat surface), I would HIGHLY recommend the TrueLeigh rose cane. It's super easy, and came out BEAUTIFUL ( ... )

Wow, those look so hard! I'm totally new to this fimo thing so we'll see if what I make even come close to those pretty pictures. ;p

Thanks for the links. I'll post pictures of my project when I'm done.

More coolness! I love the iggle dwagon, awwwww!!!!! So cute! I like the scarab too. The sculpted stuff you are doing is really coming out great! Where is the skinner blend stuff?? I do love the heart you sent me that, I think, you used the skinner in, but have you done anything else with that?

I have been using Skinner blends more often - in fact, the dragons make use of one . . . if you look closely at the blue spots, they're lighter in the center, and get darker toward the outside - that's a blend. I also used a blend to cover the base of the finger labyrinth, but it's kinda hard to see in that photo (the colours didn't really show up the way they look in real life). I haven't used any more of that rose cane, though - I still have some. Maybe I'll make something for myself, because I thought it came out SO pretty! I did make another cane similar, with orange/peach blend and brown around the outside. Not my favourite colours, but the candlesticks I made came out pretty. I should add them to the website. Plus, I made a chrysanthemum cane with a green to purple blend (turns out blue in the center), and black . . . I've made some stuff for my bedroom with it. Why didn't I post any of that stuff? *facepalms ( ... )

Cool about Fimo Steve linking your stuff! You are very good I think. I definitely think you should post more pics. I love to see it!!!

Nope, haven't done any yet. Need to find a specific project to do first I think. It is something Jessie and I can do, she is an artist for sure (more into drawing and photography) and I think she would have fun with it, too.

Are you digging Mesmerize? SOme of it is a little weird, and even lol funny, but I really love their melodies and harmonization at the same time as being just freaks!

I've only listened to it once so far, so I don't really have any of the songs "in my head" yet - I got a kick of out "my cock is bigger than yours," though (or whatever that lyric is). Yes, I agree that in general there is some interesting melodic stuff, and other musicality, that goes on in addition to the big, noisy BLAHBLAHBLAH . . . I like it! Although I'm liking Toxicity better right now, but maybe just because I've listened to it more. It often takes me a while to fall in love with music. The exception to that was Poe's "Haunted" album, which grabbed me the minute I started to listen. That doesn't happen very often, though. Oh and if you haven't heard Poe, DO! Also, I've got a copy of Rio . . . OH FUCK!!!!! LOL! I forgot to put the CD in your Christmas box, and now I've forgotten YET AGAIN to put the CD in the box I'm sending you with your unbirthday present. Ah HA! It's not too late, though - I can still open up the box and put it in. So, soon you'll have (what I hope is) the original Rio ( ... )

LOL! Go girl!! Hopefully you're just singing or something easy today at his school. You can teach them the "Cigaro" or maybe "Violent Pornography" song. Miss Sharon should love that, don't you think? LOL! ;)

I also got a kick out of that line. What a silly song, huh? I like nonsensicalness of it. It makes me unserious. Yes, I am downloading the Poe tonight for sure!!
