I Saw It But Its In My Head...I Think?

Apr 09, 2009 12:04

as i stood fearless and numb upon the Gap
i saw time on the eastern horizon
wave to me goodbye
the sound of an emptiness within
beckoned me to my death.

my past skimmed past my eye of thought
like the gull that swooped low in that morning light
while the waters gyrated against rocks and boulders
my eyes filled with death saw the ship and its raggedness
tattered cloth and fallen beams ropes dangled drunkenly to the deck.

there I saw a ghost of a man stand on the quarterdeck of decay
a bloodied dead bird sagged in the great palm of his bone-skinned hand
the crackle of loosened sail or was it the car in the carpark?
Starled me as i lost my balance and was about to freely fall
when i heard another yell "Nooo!"

a thin ghost of a man with no sea legs
at first i thought he was drunk
yet his eyes glistened and rolled, hands figity and a word of many
i did think familiar.
through his ramblings he introduced himself
as samuel cole?, samuel ridge?
'samuel i'm a...was a poet'.

when i woke covered in sweat
it was another wednesday morn just past ten.
