So I guess it's time for an update like the rest of the theatre majors at marshall. Caesar auditions are a week from today. I am excited and very hopeful at this point. There are 17 men in the cast. Looks good for me! My only problem at this point is having the motivation to get together a strong audition. I read the show and watched a film version and decided on auditioning with an Antony monologue. I feel that I am very similar to the character in some senses. I love this show, this possibly has to be my favorite Shakespeare show, well next to Othello. LOL I have decided to audition with the monologue where Antony first addresses the crowd after Caesar's death. I seem to connect with some of the sarcasm and hurt that he is feeling at this point. I am really excited to show Jack what I have. I dont think i have fully shown myself to him and I am so ready with this show and with auditioning techniques, which i am very excited about. I love to audition it's sooo weird, i dont know why. I get such a rush and get sooo pumped. For the first day of class we have to have an audition piece ready as if we were going to audition for a Broadway director. I have decided to go back to a piece that i have never been able to do, that is very close to me. sounds cheesy, i know. I am going to do the paul monologue from a chorus line, where he is talking to Zack about his parents finding out he does drag and that he's gay. Obviously, I dont do drag, but i dont think that is where the substance of the monologue comes. I think it comes more to the point where he wants to let out his feelings about his parents not fully accepting his lifestyle. Not only the fact that he is gay, but the fact that he was to be a dancer. I love this piece and I love the show. I can't wait for it to open on broadway!!! lol anyway, one last topic. SETC!!!!! AHHHHHHHHH! it is in March. I have decided to come out and bring all that I hsve for this audition. I have to get another job this summer! I can not come back here and work for the city and do a show somewhere around here, its just not me. I am having some problems with my range at this point. I was soooo easily able to belt things that now take alot more effort. I have to cut down the partying level, this semester, even though i dont party that much. I have found alot of songs that are possibilites for the initial audition. Some are: Run and Tell That from Hairspray. Fifty Million Years Ago from Celebration, I Can See It from the Fantasticks. Anyone with suggestions, they are definitely welcomed. Ok! I think this is probably the longest LJ entry i have ever had, So I think this is a good stopping point. Have a good night everyone! back to huntington soon! Cant wait to see everyone!!!!

Love,
Darin
