Another entry in my attempt to write the 12 Labors of Hercules in 1200 words.

This one is a response to the GoldApple list's prompt "apple."

“There’s a hundred-headed serpent guarding them, you know.”

“Only a hundred?” said Iolaus. “I thought you said this was going to be difficult!”

Hercules led the way up the hill. “One thing at a time! First we have to get Atlas to tell us where his daughters live with the golden apple tree. Then we have to get there.”

“If you can deal with Atlas, I know a few old hunter’s tricks to deal with serpents,” cried Iolaus, undaunted. “You can lure them into a trap …”

Hercules laughed. The Hesperides and their pet serpent wouldn’t know what hit them!
