http://www.vfproadtrips.org/ I know most everyone is tired of hearing about Katrina, but right now is when it's really important that people get the help they need. Families are trying to reunite, while others are dealing with sudden deaths, and countless people have lost everything. I know we can't all drop everything and go down and help, but that doesn't mean we're helpless in the situation. I know almost everyone has 20 dollars to spare. While most people are sketched out to just send money to organizations, it's almost just as easy to send a package with needed supplies. I just went to Styvensent Plaza today, picked up some diapers and Pedialyte from CVS, and dropped them off at Shipmates right across the plaza. It only cost me 30 dollars overall, and it can make all of the world to a family who just lost everything. Ya, I had to put off getting another piercing, but atleast a baby will be able to hold down his food and avoid getting dehydrated, and some parents will finally have clean babies after probably a couple of days of ickyness.
You can stop by ANY store and get something listed on that website, and then send it out from any post office or Shipmates. Fuck having a full gas tank or going out to dinner- read the news stories coming out of the affected areas and look at the pictures. It's ridiculously easy and cheap to help people in need right now.
Here's the address they give to send stuff to:
