Last night I attended a meeting with my pool team. Last session was weak with a lot of poor decisions made. There's been squabbling and we needed to air some things out. The team captain opened by stating the reason for the meeting was to address feelings of disdain for a particular player that had been losing on purpose (sand-bagging). He said she was the sole reason we all had a bad session (impossible, just passing the blame). She said he had made bad calls in who to play against other team's players (true, he's a total tyrant). Half the team got really emotional and one of our stronger players resigned, siting his health as the deciding issue (a lie, it was the sandbagger). We conceded that we needed better communications and declared to take more time-outs. Then we adjourned and went to the pub for free pool night. When our newly resigned player showed up to the pub with our team captain, the captain also announced his resignation.(they had conspired to form a new team) Without a captain, there is no team. So now everyone was all worked up. The ex-captain attempted to give the team to our highest rated player, who called "bullshit". He told the captain that he wasn't going to make it that easy and if he had issues with someone on the team, he'd have to address them or there would be no team and we'd all be screwed. So, captain came back into the pub and spoke with our reputable sand-bagger. He told her she could no longer be on our team and then I think he probably crawled off somewhere to cry. I just want accountability all around and for the captain to listen to what the rest of the team thinks on his calls. We start the new session next Tuesday. So, we'll see how things shape-up.
