New Entry; Failed Experiment and a Discovery

Jun 15, 2008 08:58

Note to self:  Before experimenting with magical artifacts, attempt to ascertain whether their effects can be directed or not.

The orb experiment was a spectacular failure.  Apparently the spell contained in it was not directable; instead of transmogrifying Thogmon one of these days I'll get him with something, stupid demon it got me.  I suppose it was designed to be a self-cast only.  Z. and her damn demon found it incredibly amusing.  On my part, it was simply annoying.  I had a raging headache for a few minutes after the spell wore off, and had to fight with an incredible urge to flap my arms and take to the air.  Stupid whelplings.

...although it was, in retrospect, rather nice to be  ((a few words are hastily and heavily scratched out)) fun.  Flying does have it's merits.  I just wish that I could cast in that form, instead of being completely helpless beyond biting and flapping my wings.

We did make a fascinating discovery in Netherstorm earlier this evening.  There are these... clouds.  Purplish in color and faintly glowing.  At first I was wary of them, tempted to keep my distance lest they have some negative effect.  I was pleasantly surprised when we neared it and I felt the mental fatigue casting spells can cause fade, replaced by a sense of growing power.  It was incredible.  I was loathe to leave it.

Perhaps we will see more of these phenomena in our travels.

I just hope we aren't imposed upon to escort any more mechanical contraptions.
