ART: Coloring Books Pages As Art Therapy

Mar 17, 2011 02:22

The dork I am, when I wait for the kids at my internship Wednesdays, I color pictures. I have figured out that some books have good images it is easy to make into therapeutic images with personal meaning.

Apparently from Ben 10, here is a character "defending herself" using "natural energy". The meaning of the coloring in this is a simple, undefensive way of responding to shit coming at me. Something I'd like to aspire to.

From Scooby Doo, here is Daphne. This is about me trying to hold onto being calm and cool and collected etc. while there are "MasturbHaters" around.

From Star Wars, here is the original coloring page and how I used transfer and watercolor on construction paper to make something pretty cool. The meaning behind it is that becoming a responsible adult has and will take work for me. And that being a better person is worth striving toward, even if I can never reach perfection.
