D5
Dick Knubbler put a crisp dollar into the vending machine. He put a finger on every letter button at the same time, and then every number button. A bag of chips and a candy bar both fell down. "Nyehheheh, looks like my lucky day!" he commented. 50 cents dropped into the coin return in the form of two shiny state quarters. He put these back in the machine and bought a pack of gum.
William stepped forward. "Hey, let me go now." He spent two minutes trying to get his dollar to stay in the machine, growing increasingly frustrated, and pushing away Knubbler's hand when he tried to help. Eventually, the machine took the dollar. William smiled broadly, pressing close to the machine, trying to decide what it was he wanted. Finally, he decided on D5. The spiral turned. But his Ding Dongs were totally stuck. He reached for the sides of the machine to shake it, face turning red with anger, but Knubbler stopped him.
"NO!" he yelled.
"What the fhuck, why not?! It didn't even give me my schange!"
"Do you know how many deaths are caused by shaking vending machines? Cause I do!"
"That'sch a myth! It's gotta be!"
Knubbler's eyes turned red. Shuffling his chips and candy bar to a single hand, he pointed out the warning label.
"That doeschn't mean anything," William said, taking a step back.
Knubbler pushed him out of the way, eyeing the machine. He kicked it once, not hard enough for it to topple over, then yelled, "You fuckin' gimme that snack cake, or I'll come back later tonight and crack you open like a really delicious egg!" He gave it another kick. Suddenly, the spiral moved a bit more, and the Ding Dongs fell out.
William reached for the flap, but hesitated.
"It won't bite."
"I'm gonna let you handle this one, chief," he muttered.
Knubbler reached in to grab the snack cakes, and coins clinked in the coin return. "There's your change. Here's your Ding Dongs."
"Thanksch," Murderface muttered.
