Yea I thought I was done with these posts, too.
Apparently, just before buying the house, it was reassessed by the town tax assessor to be $100,000 more than I actually paid for it. This is what they base property taxes on. I was also just now informed of this because my tax info was all being sent to the previous owners at their new address.
Now, you may recall that I had insisted on buying it on April 29th or earlier, and they wouldn't do it before May 5th. Tax appeals were due may 1st. Had I gotten it when I wanted, I would have had time to appeal, had my taxes lowered by $2500 a year or so (I think, based on what I'm paying now). I just started considering that I might be raising rent by $25 a month per person until next year's appeal is in.
Also, the roof is leaking, so if anyone is a roofer, I will likely be filing an insurance claim on it. If you can do it for $750 less than they estimate, you're hired. (that's my deductible)
Kobura was going to get a job to help take up some slack, but cause he broke his hand at Otakon he will be unable to do so for about 2 months.
Well, I guess we can't afford pride any more so I'm just gonna go cry somewhere and then look up the nearest welfare office ^^;
