Rearranging Furniture? Think About The Bird

I have plan for my spring cleaning; I want to move my parrotlet’s cage next to my desk, swapping it with the filing cabinets that are currently next to it. However, I’m also thinking about my little Inkybird and wondering how the move will affect him. I’m sure he’ll be happier being next to me, instead of just out of arm’s length across the room (It’s a small office.). And, I’m sure he’ll like the fact that I can open the curtains and he can see outside. But, I also bet having his cage next to my desk, which is prime kitty territory, will mean new worries about the cats and the bird and I wonder if it will add to frustration as I constantly try to keep the cats off my desk. “I can’t see my to do list through your butt,” is a common phrase that’s heard around here, as I try to balance my work responsibility with the kitty sprawled on my desk. And that’s before the move.

While other households might not have my unique situation with cats and birds, I think anytime furniture is rearranged in a room where there’s a pet bird, some important factors need to come into play. So what do you have to look for?
