Hi.
Today was a nice day. I live with my boyfriend (I guess some background IS required) and he likes to sleep late, but I am on a work schedule (he is a night owl, and his work schedule collides with his internal clock) and on the weekends I wake up with the plans for the day running in and out of my brain. I am not too thrilled with my job at the moment, I have been there for almost 6 years and I have advanced as far as it goes. I'm out there looking, but the market is terrible. So on the weekends, I love to do the things that I enjoy doing, however, sometimes the things I need to do slow that process down.
I really enjoyed waking up about 7:30am, I hugged my honey and opened the bedroom door to my cat, Harry, stretched out in the hallway, waiting for me. I adoped Harry in February of 2007 from a kill shelter. I knew that as soon as I was able to adopt an animal I would, that is a very important responsibility I have for myself. Harry has a very, very strong and distinct personality. He is the boss (in his cat brain). He is not shy and he is in the middle of everything. He is alot like a dog, he guards, mooches food and follows us from room to room. Oh, and one more endearing feature, he bites my ankles when he wants attention.
I went for a walk this morning, its been warm here the past 3 days for November, but this morning was different. Crispy, windy fall morning, the leaves were blowing all over. We had a big storm here yesterday and the leaves are practically all off the trees except for the fervent few who held their own.
I normally listen to music but this morning instead of Kanye and Beyonce, I remembered that I had downloaded onto my ipod an Edgar Allen Poe short story audiobook., The Tell Tale Heart. Poe reminds me of my father, he was an English teacher and taught 7th grade. Every fall he taught Poe to his students and as I was growing up, I remember the many stories he came home with from the classroom. Of course we had alot of exposure to Poe as children (my sister and I), this audiobook brought back memories. My father passed away on Thanksgiving of 1999. This time of year is hard for me. It was nice to listen to the story and remember how he used to tell it, almost word for word.
So when I got home I layed down on the couch with a blanket and watched some cooking shows on Food Network, I love to do that on weekend mornings. My new favorite shows are.....Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and Down Home with the Neely's. And my old favorite is Barefoot Contessa, ahh East Hampton, what a life!
I made my first bento box this weekend, for lunch tomorrow, let me see if I can find the pics, I'm so proud.
Green peas, carrots, grape tomatoes, baby spinach, pepper jack cheese, olives, green beans, (buried under the spinach leaf) a clementine and some french dressing.
And here is my breakast bento
Key lime yogurt, grapes and apple slices.
I'm going to go and check on Bubba, he's laying in there on the couch watching Dave Chappelle.
See ya tomorrow!
