1. I had my portfolio review this past Saturday and DAAP's end of quarter exhibit was last night, which means that I am completely finished with school until January. This review was a (very stressful and now relieving and exciting) big deal for me.
2. A few of my close girlfriends from school and I had a girly day to celebrate being done today. Included manicures and pedicures (which I had somehow never done before), free gooey chocolate chip cookies (yay for Tara and Amber working at Max & Erma's), and seeing Happy Feet for free (yay for a friend that works at Newport). I think it should be obvious that all of us took our shoes off and danced our feet around on the bar during the movie.
3. I was a receptionist for a year before I went to college, and I got a call yesterday from my old boss seeing if I'd be interested in working there for December. I now work in the finishing department for a graphics printing company, and it's great for while I'm in school because there's no set schedule and you work when you can and when there's work. It's not so great for when I really need to work full time and because I've worked there long enough that my boss loves to put me on evenings to supervise projects, and it sucks working 1-9:30. So I talked to my boss this morning, explained the situation, and without me even asking he said to jump on the opportunity (thank you cool boss for understanding a poor college kid). So I'm going to be doing the receptionist gig starting Monday. I haven't decided how I feel about this yet.
+ being able to work full time and having a set 8-5 day
+ seeing certain people
+ getting paid to surf the internet
+ getting to raid my girlfriends' closets so I have enough professional stuff to wear
- seeing certain people
- getting tired of surfing the internet after day two
- ultra conservatives
- having to drive to the park down the street on my lunch break to smoke a cigarette
4. I am completely broke. It's good to know I'll be making a good amount of money this month, and that a refund check from school is going to get to me sometime before winter quarter starts, but I really hope I can pull something until either that first paycheck or my refund. Ugh.
5. I miss a lot of people I haven't seen in awhile, but now school isn't consuming my life and people should call me. :)
6. Expect a best of 2006 music post soon.
