okay, so, i rarely pay attention to the day, date, or time (i.e. NEVER.. almost), but when i realized that today's date is the 23rd, i was suddenly whisked away onto a magical time-traveling 'carpet' ride to portland, oregon on october 23rd, 2003 when jenn and i saw peaches at dante's. we had some drinks, smoked some smokes, mingled with the crowd, jenn danced with some luscious ladies, and i watched peaches in awe as she controlled the stage in all of her mighty/mullety/fearless electro goodness that felt more like rock and roll at times than electro or dance. it was sooo much fun. iggy pop even made a special appearance via video screen to help sing along to one of her new songs. scantily clad (and apparently very horny and excited) young girls from the audience were crawling onto the stage all night and dancing with peaches as she sang, right up next to her near naked body, touching her and pawing her, which she didn't seem to mind. the whole venue was electric with a sexual vibe that night which peaches seemed to inspire and encourage. it was a packed show with the punk group (SO hilarious) and electrocute as the two openers, and two bars that kept insanely busy. it was also my last and final show while still living in oregon - the grand finale (excluding all the partying we did on
halloween, and in november when i flew up for 4 more shows) that seemed to wrap up a year of sex, drugs, rock and roll, traveling, going out to bars, seeing several shows every month, collecting tshirts and flirting with bandmembers afterward, then stumbling around downtown to either liz and nathaniel's apartment or ryan's bachelor pad for a bit of post-show gathering, smoking, musings, and.. other things. good times.
oh, and by the way. if peaches comes to your town, her show is definitely worth the $15. in case the scantily clad dancing girls onstage didn't convince you.
