(no subject)
There's an election looming... this normally fills me with joy and excitement... but this time I am filled with confusion and sadness.
I belong to a political party I don't support. I want to support a party which is not the party to which I belong. The party to which I belong is too tarnished for me now; the people I know who are part of the party are too engrossed in its factionalism to have any objectivity about how it is for someone like me - a non-factional branch member, uninterested in power for power's sake.
I'm going to have to resign.
And then what?
EDIT: I just resigned from the ALP. Wow - that took, what? three months? And now I am faced with the question: how do I stay involved in trade unions if all they do is recruit members so that they can have more votes at ALP Conference?
