...sometimes the snapshots are enough...
"Andy? Who the hell are they seating Hsu next to?" Cody was tipping her head sideways, trying to get a bead on the blonde with big boobs sitting next to her mentor at the glittering gala.
"She's blonde with big tits. What could go wrong?" Andy was busy checking the known threats to them all, paying more attention to the chatter in his ear than Cody.
"Andy...that's Chelsea Handler." Cody's jaw dropped.
"So?" Honestly, sometimes Andy was as clueless as Hsu about pop culture. Lars knew, though, and he looked over her head with concern.
"So, I am warning you? This will not end well." Cody just chuckled and went to the foyer to check on Csaba, shaking with laughter at the thought of Hsu trapped for a long dinner with the caustic blonde comedian.
Priceless...
...sometimes you need more...
Cody was sprawled on the living room floor, eating a candy bar and studying her Freshman Psych. In walked Hsu with the de Rocheforts, who were visiting for the holiday.
"What is that?" Hsu nodded at the silver wrapper.
"That? It's a Three Musketeers Bar..." One look into one dark, glittering eye? Cody knew this conversation would not end well...
...some things never change...
"So, little one? Ready for your end? There can be only one." The Immortal facing her was old, so very old, and Cody was strangely not afraid. She was too well trained and too well protected to feel fear. Lars was behind her, ready and waiting.
It was then that she felt the presence of another Immortal, a powerful one, and she felt a sharp stab of panic, until a moment later, when a shadow at the end of the ally became a tall vision.
Cody just grinned, her katana ready. Her opponent, however, turned and saw who was waiting. The look on his face was priceless, just priceless. They would find out, much later, that he was, indeed, an old and powerful Immortal, a Visigoth. He was a well known headhunter, but not one who, like Stelios or Grayson, preyed on his equals. This one slithered out to take on the young, the inexperienced and the weak. He really enjoyed taking the heads of women. The man had once come after Cassandra, herself.
In the shadows, Hsu Danmei waited. He and Andy had the man blocked from escape, and Cody knew that if she fought him, he could not win, because Lars, Hsu or Andy would take him down. Cody loved quickenings, but she also loved when Hsu had them. It gave him power, so much power and strength, and she still benefitted.
In seconds, the Visigoth realized who she was, and that he was done. All he had gained, in material goods, were forfeit. He could die by the sword of a girl, a nobody, or he could go out in a blaze of glory, under Hsu's scitmar.
It might not end well, but it would end better...and he turned to face his banker, bringing his sword to his forehead in a salute before taking stance, and Cody backed up behind Lars. A glint of metal in the streetlight caught all of their attention.
