[Video opens up in Minnie's room at her home in Olivine, where she's turned off the lights, save for the glow of the Pokegear. Her Gengar, Pluto makes silly faces in the background.]
Hello, everyone~! Halloween is fast approaching, and I thought I'd share storytime again with all of you. Except today, it's going to be a very spooky one~!
[She wiggles her fingers. Oooo, Spooky.]
This is... The Legend of Sleepy Hollow!
[Pluto jumps around the room in excitement!]
Once upon a time, there was a little town named Sleepy Hollow. One day, a new schoolmaster arrived, named Ichabod Crane. He was at first an outcast in the town, enjoying to read, and preferred brains over brawn. The men of the town would tease him, with the biggest bully being Brom Bones. Ichabod endured it all, and soon his smarts and charm began to win over all the women in the town. The real trouble began when a certain woman fell for him... Miss Katrina Van Tassel.
[Pluto makes goo-goo eyes and pretends to bat his non-existent eyelashes.]
Katrina was not only the most beautiful girl in town, but her father was also the wealthiest farmer in town. Brom had always intended to marry her, but now Ichabod wanted her hand too. They would fight and argue over her, but it seemed like Katrina only had eyes for Ichabod. Brom was stumped on how to get rid of his rival, until he heard a rumor. It seems that Ichabod was very superstitious, and would believe just about any story he heard. That's when Brom decided to tell Ichabod all about the story of... the Headless Horseman.
[Pluto draws his flaw-like fingers across his 'neck.']
Brom told Ichabod of a ghostly figure who followed anyone who traveled by night. The Horseman was always looking for a new head, and was a spirit of pure evil. This frightened Ichabod terribly.. because the next night, he had to travel alone during the night to get home! That night was particularly dark, and there wasn't a soul outside. The wind chilled him, and he couldn't shake the feeling he was being followed. He told himself all of this fear was just his imagination... and then... he heard hoofbeats!
[Pluto whinnies like a horse!]
He turned around, and saw something moving in the shadows. It was a soldier without a head, riding on top of an impossibly tall horse! Instead he had a pumpkin on his neck, burning brightly with fire. He cackled and began to give chase after Ichabod! No matter how fast Ichabod went or where he ran, he couldn't lose the Horseman. The horseman just got closer and closer, and threw the pumpkin head at Ichabod, creating a deadly fire near the schoolmaster...
[Pluto's eyes glow, and he looms behind Minnie...]
Well, when the townspeople woke up that morning, there was no sign of the fire, or of the schoolmaster. The only things they could find were the remains of a shattered pumpkin, and the schoolmaster's hat. Ichabod was never seen again, and Brom and Katrina were married. There were rumors that Ichabod simply left town, and was married to another woman with many children... but only rumors. No proof was ever found.
[The light from the Pokegear fades, leaving the only lights to come from Pluto's eyes.]
As far as everyone in Sleepy Hallow is concerned... they all believe that Ichabod was spirited away on Halloween Night by the ghoulish Headless Horseman. The end!
