[Thoughtful Minnie's face appears on Video, petting her Azumarril Mickey. She's hanging out by the Olivine Lighthouse again.]

It's been so long since the last time I did this...

Would anyone like to hear a fairy tale?

Now you will!

Once Upon A Time, in a lovely little kingdom, there was a happy family - a father, a mother, and a daughter. But when the daughter was very young, her mother became ill, and passed away. The father believed his daughter needed a good motherly influence, so he quickly married again. He was blind, however, to the Step-Mother's wicked ways, and she already had two cruel children of her own. Once the father died early, the Step-Mother treated the daughter as a slave, and the children teased her, calling her Cinderella after all the cinders from the chimney she had to clean. But throughout it all, Cinderella was kind and gentle, doing as she was told, and dreaming one day of a happy and peaceful life.

Then one day, it was announced that the prince of the kingdom was holding a grand ball, and that every girl in the kingdom was invited, for he was looking for a bride. The step-sisters demanded Cinderella make dresses for them, which she did gleefully, as she was excited to go as well. The Step-mother said Cinderella could only go if she finished all of their chores, and had a dress. The animals Cinderella befriended - the mice, the dog, the horse - they all came together and made her one out of the things her step-sisters no longer used, and helped her finish her chores, because Cinderella had always treated them with kindness. On the night of the ball, Cinderella looked beautiful in her dress.

The Step-sisters, however, howled that their used materials had been used to create such beauty, and tore the dress to shreds!

[She would have to remember this story to tell to Ayumi someday.]

Jealousy is such an ugly thing. Go on.

The Step-mother mocked her ambition, saying Cinderella didn't belong at a ball. They left her to go, and poor Cinderella, with the one dream she desperately desired shattered, fell to her knees and wept. After a moment, she felt her hair being stroked, and calm voice telling her there was no need to cry. She looked up, and there was a lovely old woman there, with a gentle smile, holding a magic wand. This was Cinderella's fairy godmother, the magical sort that come to those who hold onto their dreams. She told Cinderella that she was here to help her go to the ball!

[Now, where was her fairy godmother when she needed her? Oh wait, Kudou-kun kinda counted for that.]

What did she do? [Even though it's kinda obvious to see what's going to happen.]

[thanks for that mental image]

The fairy godmother used her magic to create a carriage out of a pumpkin, turned the animals into drivers and carriage men, and created a simply marvelous dress for Cinderella, with glass slippers. But she warned the spell wouldn't last, and on the last stroke of midnight, everything would return to as it was. Cinderella thanked her, and left for the ball, delighted she could have this one night of happiness. The ball was everything she could have imagined, and as she stepped in, everyone was marveled at her beauty. The most marveled was the prince, who instantly fell in love with her, and asked her to dance with him. They danced long into the night, hopelessly in love with one another.

Everyone watched the happy couple in admiration, save for the Step-Mother, who believed she recognized that face, and told her daughters it was time to leave. As for Cinderella, she was so blissfully happy, she never noticed the time - not until the clock struck midnight. Remembering the Fairy Godmother's warning, she fled from the prince's arms. Startled, he gave chase! As Cinderella ran down the steps, she accidentally left behind one of her glass slippers. There was no time to pick it up, so she went to her carriage and left, and by the time she had gotten home, everything was as it had been before. The only proof of that night was the other glass slipper, which the Fairy Godmother had let Cinderella keep.

Why did she let her keep it?

Cinderella didn't know why, but she decided she was all right not knowing. She hid the slipper away.

The step-family came home to find Cinderella cleaning, and nothing more was thought of it. However, a mere few days later, there was a great announcement throughout the entire kingdom. The Prince was going to every woman in the kingdom, and seeing if the left behind glass slipper fit them. If it did, they would be his bride, for he had fallen in love with the mysterious dancer. Knowing it would fit her, Cinderella abandoned her chores, wanting to tidy herself up for the Prince. But the Step-mother managed to connect the dots, and when Cinderella wasn't looking, she locked the poor dear up in her room.
