Dude... I hate to say this... but I think a lot of is also that there are a lot of designers, whose sexuality is ambiguous to the public eye, and design accordingly.
It's weird.
MODE covered it or alluded to it in some of their issues.
Personally, I wish I could just find someone who understands that I like my curves and just want a way to make sure they look their best;)
Do you not think that... as well.... fashion.. .cloth itself.. hangs better on a certain form........... and that's what they design to... rather than designing to an actual human figure....???
they call models walking hangers.... it's about the fall and movement of the garment.. not how a size 4-6-8 will look, feel , move in it...
??? what do you think? And I , even though I'm heavier now, LOVE how thin athletic women's bodies look.... I've always dreamed of having less thigh, less hip............... ah well... a girl can dream...
The Japanese created designs that were more about the fabric than the form. The style they came up with is called a kimono.
I have an athletic figure. Always have. But I also have a waist. Hips. Thighs. None of my measurements are extreme, by any stretch. Yet when I can't get my thigh into a pair of pants, one that is too big for my waist, that speaks to deeper issues
( ... )
I too bemoan the denial of the female form in fashion, the lack of reality, and see that even historically, though some fashions DID accentuate certain portions of the body that were truly feminine (I guess you could say, "Yay, boobies!"...), women's bodies have been pinched, padded, pushed, constrained, restricted, resized, exposed, covered, molded, and shoved into every conceivable form imaginable, and no one has really ever gotten it right...
Except India.
God bless the Sari. It's flowy, comfy and sexy, and way girlie. It has no size restrictions, and looks good on anybody. I'm going to get one now!
