There and back again, a gamer's tale

I finally made it back home around 10pm last night. It seems that even with the extra sleep I got during the con, I was more exhausted then I thought. I hadn't planned on taking that 3 hour nap in the middle of the day and it only goes to show how tired I must've been given that I was able to sleep in that heat at all. If I hadn't been woken by a phone call, God only knows how long I would have snoozed at the rest stop. I was also able to put the pillow I stole from the Hyatt to good use, though as an actual pillow rather than the cushion I had intended it to be. I found that when I sat on the pillow, it actually made me too tall to drive the car. My head scrapped the roof and I could only see more than the first 10' of road by bending my head. This is definitely something I'll have to keep in mind if I ever decide to drive this car long distance again. By the time I get to my destination, I'm so crippled that I end up staggering around half-bent over and it takes a handful of pills and lots of time time to put things back aright.

All in all, it's a relief to be back home in a lot of ways. I will admit that I'm sort of sad about having to go back on the diet after some truly ridiculous splurging during the trip. I can only imagine how much damage I did to my blood sugar and kidneys during the trip. Still, who wants to live forever, right? Sacrificing life for happiness, even if it's something as simple as a good meal out with friends, is more than a worthwhile trade.

I'll try to get some of the pictures I took from Origins up in the next few days. During my absence, I had someone pick up the external hard drives from my cousin meaning that I now have plenty of storage space and have recovered all the info I feared lost on the drive that died. I'm going to send out the rebate and warranty packages tomorrow and both should arrive within the deadline (knock on wood). The only thing I have to do now is rest up and relax until the next convention starts a week from tomorrow. Luckily, it's just Dexcon, which is local, and I'll have a place to crash there to boot.
