Pagan "coming out" stories

Feb 04, 2008 22:21

I'm passing along this request from
felessan, a very good friend of mine.

As part of a final project, I wish to collect "coming out" stories from those of Pagan faiths. This can be ANY religion under that large umbrella, so anyone who identifies as Pagan is welcome to submit a story. I would like your story to be on one of three topics: 1. How did you come to your faith? 2. How does your faith impact your life? 3. What IS your faith, especially if you are of an unknown or smaller religion.

If possible, a real story would be preferred. There is no limit on content and these stories will NOT be censored, other than possible name changes if you prefer.

The point of this project is to create a dramatic performance. If any of you know or are familiar with the Vagina Monologues, think something like that, only for the Pagan community. At current, we are separate if vaguely similar groups or individuals. However, the complexities of our relationships, and the subtle forms and forces that unify our community have never been explored, especially in the public setting. For films, what do we have to represent us? The Craft? Wickerman? And on stage?? Nothing. Squat. Oh, Greeks. Yep. It is time for our voices and our stories to be heard and to remind us what we mean to each other, to ourselves, and to the world.

I am asking for a big endeavor on your part, but please, this is an important work that needs not to be ignored.

Send any submissions to felessan@sfsu.edu. Forward this e-mail to friends or family that might have stories as well and encourage them to contribute to this project.
