Some people see dead people, I see bridesmaids. At least I did last night. A whole freakin' chorus of them. Whatever possessed the costumer for the Wichita Grand Opera to do ALL of the costuming from David's Bridal, I will never know. All of the women wore incredibly ugly bridesmaid dresses, with the except of the lead...who wore bridal gowns, even in the death scene. The men wore tuxes of various styles from the Tux Shop...and wigs...really bad wigs. It looked like they were escapees from a badly put together wedding.
Still, if you didn't watch them and just listened it was very nice. I'm hoping that Henry will be offered a free ticket again if he continues to do work for the WGO. I really want to see Romeo & Juliet and I'd love to see Swan Lake. I've seen Tosca but haven't seen Turandot, so I'm not sure if I want to see those two or not.
It's still snowy and cold out and I'm ready for the snow and the leftover ice to be gone. I went to knitting at the Heritage Hut yesterday and learned how to do the purl stitch. I decided I wanted to do a felted needle case, so I came home with two skeins of beautiful deep purple wool. I hope it goes well. Henry's scarf turned out really soft and very long. Not bad for my first go at knitting. I started Rhiannon's scarf Friday when I met up with Ingrid from Wichita KIP over at Bella Luna on Central. We hunkered down in a booth at 4 and didn't leave until they closed at 9. I think I've got about half of Rhiannon's done already.
You know that you're addicted to a hobby when you take it to the opera with you. Yes, I took my knitting with me. Since Henry had to be there around 6, I figured I would take him and just hang out and knit. And I knitted through all the intermissions, too. People kept stopping by to see what I was working on. Women commented that they knitted, too, and it was a great idea to take with you! Maybe I'll get a smaller VB bag to carry just a single project in rather than take my huge tote with me. Hmmmm, now there's an idea!
