Lilly and Mel's suite

May 17, 2006 17:38

Having spent several hours passed out under a table in the bar, the lack of vibrating rubber ducky puffball bedspread had not been apparent to Indy when he stumbled into his bedroom at around five o'clock this morning. His head hurt like the blazes. Lights were not an option. He fell on to the bed while attempting to get undressed, and passed out ( Read more... )

Lilly comes upstairs, carrying the box and grinning with triumph at her successful mission as she enters her suite. She pauses just inside the door. Someone's in her room...

And then, before she can really be alarmed, she sees who it is. Schooling her features, she checks the lid on the box and marches over to her bedroom door.

"Indiana Jones. Just what do you think you're doing?"

Indy heard the door. He doesn't really care if he's caught.

He is currently trying to fold, bundle or roll up the pilfered bedspread, for ease of transit back to its home. Stampy's playful gamboling is making the task more arduous than it should be. He lifts and drops one end, trying to knock her off in the resulting wave of ducks, puffballs and comforter.

However, the tinyphant rides the turbulence like a pro-surfer. This is a great game!

"Reclaiming stolen property," he says with a sniff.

"Oh, really?"

Lilly arches an eyebrow in polite disbelief.

"If you're so anxious to reclaim your property, why didn't you come after it last night?"

"'Cause..."

Indy tries a violent shaking motion to dislodge the elephant now, frustration starting to bleed through. She hangs on resolutely, using a combination of ninja balance, teeth, and a trunk gripping onto a convenient rubber duck.

"Something came up. I was forced to get very drunk instead."

Lilly tilts her head.

"Fair enough," she allows, the sternness disappearing in favor of a wide grin. "I'll forgive you. Well, as long as you drop the damn bedspread and sit down."

She's beaming at him now.

"I have a present for you."

"Blame Tim," he adds as a mild afterthought, giving one last furious rend to try and whip the cover from under Stampy, tablecloth magic trick-style. "He's buggering off forever. I had to give him a decent send-off."

He finally gives up with an exasperated sigh, and turns to look at her.

"You got me a present?"

His eyes fall to the swastika-emblazoned box and a very dubious expression takes root across his face.

"I didn't wrap it," Lilly assures him.

She takes a step closer, holding the box out to him.

"Go ahead, open it. I promise you'll like the contents more than the container."

He sits down on the end of the bed and takes the box onto his knees.

"If this turns out to be Bleidecker's severed head..."

"Eww, gross."

Lilly wrinkles her nose.

"Yeah, sorry to disappoint you, but that's a no."

He chuckles. "Joke."

And flips the lid off. His eyes light at first, and then his brow creases in deep concern.

"Lilly... what the hell did you do?"

"I found your stuff," Lilly says, chin lifting just a touch.

"So I see."

Indy is really torn.

He pulls out his hat and pops a dent out it. He can't help but smile. "This is... amazing. I can't believe you did this for me."

He has to force the frown this time. "Are you crazy?"

"Not more so than usual, no," Lilly says cheerfully.

She smiles at him, soft and warm.

"S'only fair. You gave me a hat first, after all."

"Okay." He raises a finger and then drops it, sighing. "Jesus... you're unbelievable. In the best possible way. Daring. Brave. Single-minded. And impetuous to the point of idiocy."

He looks at her with kind eyes and opens his arms to her.

"I wonder where you get it from."

"No idea," Lilly says airily, even as she steps into his arms.

"Maybe I just run with a bad crowd."

Indy closes his arms behind her.

"Shut up and kiss me."
