Character reference post

Jan 23, 2011 01:50

Character reference post for future commissions, trades etc. Also includes some of Karpour's characters since some characters belong to both of us and he needs better reference!

I have plenty of character designs in the works, but most of them don't come farther than one or two drawings. These have names, at least.
Just a note: For all my characters counts that when they're drawn in a more realistic style, they're animal-sized, not 'anthros' with human body proportions.

Kiki
Species: Ring-tailed lemur (Lemur catta)
Gender: Female
Description: My main character. Has normal lemur markings, so orange eyes, black bald snout/hands/feet, black around the eyes, white/brownish grey fur, dark shoulders and a BIG striped tail. Has a Mickey Mouse-esque 'stripe' on her forehead and black-tipped tail. The ears are bald, small and black with fluffy white fur around them. In my cartoon drawings she only has four fingers on each hand, a rather big nose and a short stocky body, but feel free to do your own interpretation.
Personality: Generally happy, friendly, and a bit silly. Not very girly (but no tomboy either).

Jack
Species: Cartoon bird (no specific species, interpret as you wish)
Gender: Male
Description: Generic cartoon bird, pretty much always wearing an aviator helmet and a scarf. He has no set color scheme so you're free to make your own intrepetation. (I tend to draw him mostly light/white) Rather long pointy beak, long thin legs with big feet. Tail with two big feathers, though feel free to draw your own intrepetation. Size not set, probably about the size of a duck, or whatever suits the drawing.
Personality: Loooooooooves airplanes. Only exists for the love of cartoon birds, aviator helmets and old airplanes!

Lindy
Species: Sclater's lemur (Eulemur flavifrons)
Gender: Female
Description: Orange with bright blue eyes, fur around the face and belly light yellow. Bald face, hands, feet and ears, dark brown skin. Has a far more femine build than Kiki.
Personality: Friendly, pretty calm, loves (old) music. Hangs out with Hop.

(for reference see below Hop)

Hop
Species: Sclater's lemur (Eulemur flavifrons)
Gender: Male
Description: All black lemur with bright blue eyes. Bald hands, feet, ears and face. Can have grey skin and chest for the drawing's sake.
Personality: Bouncy, loves dancing! Hangs out with Lindy.

Dog
Species: Generic cartoon puppy (probably closest to a Jack Russel or so)
Gender: Male
Description: Pup with perked floppy ears, big nose and pretty small tail. Light yellow/beige/brown fur, white belly. Right hind paw and tailtip are dark brown, also has a dark brown patch covering his left ear and eye.
Personality: Busy looking cute.

Karpour
Species: Red kangaroo (Macropus rufus)
Gender: Male
Description: Reddish/orangeish brown roo with light brown muzzle, belly, feet, eyepatches and lower arms. Ears, tailtip, toes and fingers are dark brown, a bit of dark brown on his muzzle, and white fluff in his ears. Sometimes wears a red cap and/or orange shirt.
Personality: Happy, bouncy, often hangs out with Kiki and really likes the color orange.

Tyler
Species: Thylacine (Thylacinus cynocephalus)
Gender: Male
Description: Light brown with lighter fur on his belly, muzzle, palms and around his eyes, and some white fluff in his ears. Dark brown toes, hairtuft and 8-or-so stripes on his lower back and tailbase. Has a big kangaroo-like tail, being a thylacine and all that. Sometimes seen with an orange bandana.
Personality: Generally friendly, curious, tends to have a rather large ego. Is convinced that he is not extinct.

Here's a whole overly complete gallery full of thylacine ref!

Spaceferrets
Some species Karpour came up with, not going to write their whole backstory here but they're brightly colored ferret-like things that live in spaaaaaaaaaace.
