In all my time browsing wikipedia, I have seen many contentious pages that are disputed and managed using the reversion system of reverting the page if you dislike what someone has changed. This include the pages on islam, abortion, major american political parties, holocaust revisionism, global warming, and any number of other contentious and bitterly disputed topics. The only page that I have ever seen that is entirely protected from being changed because of insistent malicious manipulation is the one on Chairman Mao Zedong.
