In the time-honored tradition of if Susie jumped off a cliff, would you go do it too? I'm sharing a few pictures of my Christmas tree and favorite ornaments (one of these days I'd like to make a crane like the one in my icon).
Oooooooooh! It's a beautiful tree! I had no doubt at all. ;)
Will you tell us the story of the Christmas Tree sheep? Your representative is so cute, I can't stand it. And your ornaments are lovely, as is your adornment of the great tree.
Look how early your love for crafty-stitching began, and you got it from your mom. That's priceless, isn't it? Your 'family' ornaments make my heart melt - I've got the one's Jason made as a kid, and tons that I made years ago (ribbon fish and lace angels anyone?) which always made our trees beautifully original years ago, but he shows no interest in having any of them. They have a "gold" themed tree ~ no character whatsoever.
Your tree, like that of Mizz Mumsy, is a reflection of yourself and all the love you have for your family and for Christmas. It's beautiful ~
Will post Christmas Tree Lamb story shortly, even though it's a bit late. :(
My mom really did teach me to love making things (too bad daughter's never shown any particular interest in that type of thing) - I know I had a needle in my hands at 6 or 7. You can't see them in the picture, but my tree has a bunch of ornaments the kids made when they were small - egg carton bells and the like. One of my favorites is a construction paper heart with a squiggle of glitter-coated glue that has a piece of curling ribbon through a punched hole as a hanger - daughter's preschool effort. :) But you're gonna have to tell me about your ribbon fish! And shame on your son for not wanting any of those precious things! (must admit that "themed" trees look lovely in stores, but I've always thought they indicated a serious lack of imagination when they show up in someone's house)
Oh, Deb! Your tree is just stunning! (To think that I almost missed this post...what a loss that would have been.) I just love the fact that your tree is decorated with ornaments that are so dear and heartfelt... The recollections about your Mum were so moving. I could just sit and listen to all the lovely stories behind these decorations for hours, truly! (My own tree is decorated with ornaments that have great sentimental value as well.)
Did you know that I have a number of sheep on my tree too? Harry and I are big sheep aficionados! (Harry adores Shaun the sheep from the Wallace & Gromit films.) I must track down the Christmas Tree Lamb book..it sounds delightful. I have to ask...is that indeed LambChop I see in the third pic down? I loved Shari Lewis when I was wee! Thank you so very much for sharing such beautiful photos, and beautiful memories, dear friend! XO
(I showed these pics to T&H and Tommy said that our trees "Look like sisters." LOL! ♥)
Tommy's comment made me quite bouncy because it was so close to my own thought when I saw the pictures of your tree! Will have to go back to your post and see whether I can find any of your sheep. And that is indeed LambChop there with my stocking kitty! I so wanted LambChop to come live with me when I was small, so absolutely could not resist when I found that ornament. :)
Christmas Tree Lamb story coming in a bit ... (make sure to have your tissues handy - I can never get through it without crying)
